The key fob for an old Kia Ceed broke, so I decided to try to fix it myself. It consists of 5 parts, easily printed in PLA or PETG, without support. For the buttons, you need TPU.
P.S. On the cover photo I have not glued the metal key itself to the key fob. I will update with a new picture as soon as the glue up is done.
It is NOT a key fob with collapsable key.
Print all files, the buttons in TPU.
I recommend you assemble in this order.
1. Put the buttons in the frame, no glue
2. Put the frame on the table with the pins on the back of the buttons facing up.
3. Add glue to the frame or the casing, and lower the casing down on to the button frame. You can see the pins line up with the holes in the casing. I used ordinary super glue.
4. add the car immobilizer to the compartment upper right. I added a small bit of glue from the hot glue gun to make it stay in place.
5. After the glue is set, insert the circuit board, and add the circuit board lock. It should fit snug, so no glue is needed.
6. Add the battery, and press-fit the lid. You should start from the back (close to the battery) as the lid also contains a bar to hold the battery in place. The casing has openings on the side for a flat screwdriver to remove the lid if you need.
7. Last, glue the key itself in place. I have added a support you can print so the key is held in place properly while the glue sets. I highly recommend using epoxy for this.
And that is it It is not hard to assemble, but I remembered to take a few pictures while assembling my key, so look at them if you need to.
Filament: PLA/PETG and TPU for the buttons
Layer height: 0.2mm
Use lots of walls!
As the parts are small, everything prints fast, and with very little filament.
I have not tested this key yet, as the car i am making it for is in another city… I hope it works, and I hope it works for you as well.
EDIT: The key fob is now tried and tested, and it works perfectly!
I am not sure, but I do believe it should fit some Hyunday models.
