🐻Park Benchy | Benchmark🐻

Park Benchy is a benchmark that evaluates your printer’s performance in key areas while using minimal filament. Designed to print in just 40 minutes and requiring only 11g of filament, it’s a fast, cost-effective tool for fine-tuning your settings.

The size of this model is 8.75cm wide, 3.75cm deep and 6.46cm high.

Key Features:

  • Floor: Tests bed adhesion, top surface quality and has cutouts for the bench and trashcan to view the underside bridges.
  • Bench: Evaluates curved surface quality, an arc-based bridge test (sitting area), small bridge tests (handles), and lean angle testing (backrest).
  • Trashcan: Checks seam quality on round surfaces and bridging performance at the opening.
  • Lightpost: Assesses slim structure printing, seam quality, semi-steep angles, cooling and highlights blobbing issues.
  • Stringing Test: Gaps between elements can reveal stringing performance, providing further insights into filament retraction settings.
  • Breakable Design: Elements are designed to be broken, allowing for evaluation of layer adhesion strength.
  • Minimal Material Use: Only 11g of filament is required, making it an efficient and quick print for benchmarking.

What to Look Out For:

  • Bed Adhesion: Check the floor for warping or detachment. Its large, flat surface tests initial layer adhesion and can highlight bed leveling or temperature issues.
  • Stringing: Look for stringing between the bench, trashcan, and lightpost to assess retraction settings. Excessive stringing may need adjustments to retraction speed or distance.
  • Blobbing: Inspect the lightpost, especially at seams, bottom mount and the top light fixture, for blobs caused by cooling or extrusion issues.
  • Bridging: Review floor cutouts, bench handles, and trashcan opening for bridging performance. Sagging or incomplete bridges may need better cooling or slower print speeds.
  • Surface Quality:
    • Floor: The large flat surface reveals extrusion consistency and smoothness. Uneven texture or gaps may indicate incorrect flow or extrusion rates.
    • Bench: Check curved areas for smooth finishes and consistent layer lines, which can highlight cooling or extrusion issues.
  • Seam Quality: Assess the trashcan, bench and lightpost for visible seams. Misaligned or raised seams may point to extrusion inconsistencies.
  • Cooling Performance: As the lightpost becomes the only printed object after the bench and trashcan, it highlights cooling issues like warping, poor layer bonding or blobbing.
  • Layer Adhesion: Break elements like the bench or lightpost to test layer adhesion strength. Weak bonds may require higher nozzle temperatures or slower print speeds.
