I abandoned this model in favor of the adapter mount included in this set of parts.
I wanted to use an eddy coil scanner on my K1. I wanted to run mainline Klipper. This meant that I had to replace the motherboard with something else.
I kind of wanted to also replace the toolhead board, but fate made the choice for me when I fried the toolhead board by mistake. Whoops.
This snowballed into:
- BTT Manta M5P
- BTT CB2 compute module
- Cartographer
- BTT EBB42 toolhead board
- BTT TFT35 SPI display
So anyway, this is an adapter to mount an EBB42 toolhead board on the stock K1 x-carriage. The stock 3010 fan blowing on the hot end can be retained, but the wires need to be re-terminated with 2-pin JST-XH connector.
This is not really a straightforward swap. It involves re-terminating basically every toolhead connector, flashing Katapult and Klipper, getting CANBUS working, and ditching the cable chain.
The mainboard swap basically necessitated a skirt for bottom of the printer that provided extra room for electronics and provided tie-downs to keep the wiring away from the Z-axis belts.
You'll need a part fan mount and shroud. The footprint of the EBB42 differs from the stock toolhead board enough that many shrouds will not fit. I made a shroud, but I am not happy with it yet.
I suggest that you print this from ABS or ASA. The print settings probably don't matter. You will need four M2.5 heat set inserts and some screws.
