Double Helix WLED Lamp

Double Helix LED lamp controlled by ESP32 and WLED
 

Each Helix and the base has individual controlled WS2812B (144/m) led strips. 

I have included the upper base as step file so that it is possible to add mounting points for an ESP32. 

The assembly is done using m3 4-5mm heat inserts. 

The led strips are pushed into the helix and glued in place in each end. 

IMPORTANT! Do not remove the plastic on the adhesive on the back of the led strip before inserting them into the helix - they will get stuck with no chance of ever getting them in place - ask me how I know :)

I simply inserted the led strip and then cut it to length, inserted it again and glued it in place in each end of the helix.

Each helix takes 13 hours to print with organic supports on a MK4S.

I used Azurefilm Moon Light PETG which is amazing for diffusers.

Besides that print the base with support where needed.

The lower base has a 2x3x4mm square led that is connected to the 3.3v pin of the ESP32 with a 500ohm resistor - you can use any value between 500-1k ohm to limit the brightness as desired.

Use a 5v dc power supply with at least 2 amps. If you wish to use a power supply with higher voltage make sure to use a proper step down regulator that can handle the amps, something like an XL4015 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005643857613.html

The images and videos doesn't do it justice. The first time you power up this baby you will be blown away - it is stunning.
