Siddament Spool Adapter (45-58mm)

This is an adapter for the “Modular Spool holder” https://www.printables.com/model/672811-modular-spool-holder

It fits my 1KG plastic spools from Siddament (an Australian-based company, no affiliation).

I couldn’t find an appropriate adapter for these spools, so I made my own.

The adapter sockets into the spool and then onto the spool holder peg. This aligns the center of gravity with the spool's center, reducing friction when filament is pulled. Bonus: it looks better too.

The adapter has enough clearance to spin independently around the peg while the spool stays locked in place (at 101% scale). If you want the peg to spin instead, print at 100% scale.

I recommend 101% scale so that other spools on the peg don’t spin, but feel free to test both.

Dimensions (printed at 101% scale):

• Inner: 45mm (contacts peg)
• Outer: 58mm (contacts inner spool)

Note: Your printer must be accurate and well-calibrated to ensure a proper fit.

Adapter Types:

• Long Adapter: From my testing, it fits perfectly into the 58mm plastic spool with a small amount of force. However, for some reason, it only fits one end of the spool snugly (tested on 3 spools). One side may be loose, so test both ends. Snug is good. Snug is best.
• Short Adapter: Ideal for cardboard spools. Fits well at the same 58mm diameter.

Print Instructions:

• Print at 101% for a tighter fit on the spool, or 100% for a tighter fit on the spool holder peg.
• Print with the flared base on the bed.
• Layer height: 0.2mm
• Infill: 10%
• Print time: ~1.5h (long type), ~35m (short type)
