This is my design of a cable organizer or cable routing hook. It should provide enough space for many power cords and/or network cables. You will find object files for a wide range of heights and depths.

Orientation-wise it is made to be screwed to a wall, ceiling or under a table or furniture. There is a groove for a ring or rubber band you can use to close the hook after you inserted all cables. This ring holds the hook closed, even under a heavy load.

About the Design

I optimized the design to create good stability with minimal material use. The profiles are made for either a 0.4mm nozzle with 0.2mm layer height, or a 0.8mm nozzle with 0.4mm layer height.

A) There is a flat section with three screw holes you can use to fasten the hook to your furniture/wall. These screw holes also reduce the filament tension to prevent warping.

B) Starting from there, the hook has a groove to make it more rigid in order to hold heavy cables, with the least amount of filament used.

C) At the front, there is a groove for the ring to lock the cables in the hook. With a flexible material like PETG, you can easily insert the ring after montage. There is just enough space at the front, to push the ring into its groove.

The (printed) ring is held firmly in place after montage. You can easily unlock the hook, insert or remove cables and put the ring back on it.

How to Print the Hook

MaterialPrint this hook with a material that does not deform over time, like PETG or ASA. Do not print this hook with PLA, the hooks will deform over time.
Layer HeightUse 0.2mm for a 0.4mm nozzle
Use 0.4mm for a 0.8mm nozzle.
PerimetersIt is important to configure 3 perimeters for slicing! This will not only speed up your print, it is important to get the required stability.
ExtrasIf you print multiple hooks on the same bed, activate the option “Avoid crossing perimeters”, this will reduce stringing and optimize movements between the individual parts.
BrimI successfully printed a large number of hooks without brim. Add one if you have adhesion problems.

Dimensions and Part Numbering

You find models for many combinations of heights and depths. The heights are in the range 35mm – 100mm and the depths are in the range 80mm – 190mm.

These numbers are included in the part number, which has the following format:

LR2203-H-<HHH>-<DDD>.3mf

Where <HHH> is the height and <DDD> the depth in millimetres.

Montage

Use 3, 3.5 or 4mm wood screws and fasten the hook at least using the outer two screw holes. The third screw hole is optional, it increases the side stability of the hook.

For light loads, you can alternatively fasten the hook using strong double-sided tape.

Alternative Design

There is a round design with a slide-in lock:

Conclusion

I hope you find this cable organizer useful to tidy up your power or network cable installation. If you like it, please rate it and share pictures of your print.

Happy printing!
