Assembly:

  • Requires 4x 6mm M3 Screws and the Insta360 Go 3 Hat Clip.
  • Screw the two pieces together around the goggle strap, then attach the Insta360 Go 3 Hat Clip. The chamfer on the flat edge is to help the hat clip jaws open easier.
  • Adjust the hat clip angle to point the camera in the forwards direction.
  • Print at 100% infill. I used PETG, you can use any filament that does okay in the cold.

Notes:

I have this installed on the left side with the camera lens low, but all combinations should be possible. This design is vertically symmetric and the hat clip is able to do a full 180 degree rotation, so you should be able to put this camera on right or left, with the lens high or low.

The position near the ears means you always hear the audio cues from the camera, and the mics can pick up your voice pretty well. You'll still need to turn on wind reduction when filming; the audio is basically unusable when its not.

In the uploaded photo from on the mountain, I am looking straight at the person. Keeping subjects in frame is easy, but the goggle itself does end up in the shot.

The camera's battery did aggressively drop due to the cold. I resorted to pocketing the camera every time I finished a run and stopped recording to keep the battery happy.
