This little 3D print I modeled up is solving two problems:
1: My wife is a luddite, and any device that she can't readily identify in a room gets unplugged, leaving me trying to figure out where she put the device… She never remembers...
2: A dog that loves getting into the "Cat Service Center" (the room in which we empty and refill the cats) and grazing on the various snacks it finds in there...
I picked up a bunch of ESP32-C3 units and have been building out a Bermuda triangulation/trilateration system with Home Assistant so that I can trigger automations and alerts whenever he decides to go check up on the pre and post-processed cat nourishment that is being provided.
That piece is still being built out, but thus far appears to be working well in testing... The former one? Not sure anything will save my devices... But a visual indicator on the front showing it's part of the home automation should help.
Designed for the ESP32-C3 USB C Development boards I found on Amazon, they have a footprint of 51mm by 21mm and drop right into the bottom half. The top half slides over the top.
