this spool holder uses 608-2rs barring's to reduce friction as the spool turns. there are adapters for hatchbox and ninjaflex spools with more coming soon. barring diameter is 22mm if you want to design your own adapters.
requirements:
- m5x20mm screw
- 608-2rs barring's
- 8mm smooth rod. I used a scratched Prusa y axis rod works fine.
assembly:
- line up the rod and rod holder and use a mallet to bang it in place.
- line up the hole on side of the rod holder with hole on the hinge side and use a m5x20mm screw. don't over tighten or the part will snap.
- test the hinge to see if it moves freely.
- line up the rod with the other side and slot it in place.
- get the appropriate adapter for your spool bang the barring in place with a mallet.
- place the adapter in spool. lift the hinge make sure the barring is lined up with the rod and push it in place this does require quite a bit of force to get the barring on, but once it is on the spool should spin freely.
