I've recently had to do install lots of threaded inserts in some designs I'm building. Initially used a handheld solder and the results were sometimes OK, most of the time ended up crooked (plus my neck started to hurt from trying to hold the solder in the correct position).
I bought the tall version of the Vertical Heat Press Machine-Heat Set Insert Tool (available at Amazon and other sellers, see link below) and it was an unbelievable improvement: I can now install the inserts in PLA or PET without any problems, perfectly vertical, fast and in a repeatable manner (can even control the temperature when using PLA or PET). And my neck doesn't hurt anymore!

The tool came with multiple tips for different inserts (M2-M8) in a plastic bag, so I designed this simple case that attaches at the top (out of the way) to keep the tips with the tool (it uses one of the spare M5 screws that came with the tool to make sure it remains strongly attached). I included the STL for 2 different covers (one is a little bit tighter) in case folks want to see which one suits better for them (I personally use the tight one).
