NOTES

  • The mount is made to be used with the Ender 3 Max (2021) but should work with any Ender 3 printers with the 4040 profile rails.
  • The case is made for use with the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and FREENOVE 5 Inch Touchscreen (FNK0078A). It's super lightweight and has a mount on the access panel for a 30mm Pi Fan.  It stands on it's own without the mount as well.
  • Be sure to note that the pi case doesn't have cutouts for HDMI or audio as I didn't need them.

The v1 mount I made first but I didn't want it to be as bulky. I never actually finished printing it, so I can't say that ones tested but I wanted to include it just in case anyone was interested. If you want you use it, you just need the same bolts as the machine mount and 2x m3-16mm bolts to use the screen tighteners located on the side.

The v2 is much more lightweight using carbon fiber rods as I just didn't want it to feel flimsy at all while using it. You may be able to use it fine without the rods though, especially if you used harder filaments than PLA, though you may want to glue the screen and machine mounts together in that case.

Made with Blender. I included the project file which should be relatively easy to customize if you're familiar with boolean modifiers in blender. I removed the Ender example model I used as it's a paid model but can be found here if you're interested.

HARDWARE

PI CASE

  • 8x M3-6mm bolts (4 for the access panel, and 4 for the screen cover.)
  • 4x M3-12mm bolts (For the pi fan. This leaves a little room to add nuts if needed, I didn't need any.)
  • 4x M2-6mm bolts (For the mounts to touchscreen, these are optional as everything fits together tight with the screen cover.)
  • Super Glue (To glue the pi case to the touch screen rear. I used Gorilla Super Glue.)

MACHINE MOUNT

  • 2x M5-30mm bolts (not if using ALT version with no front mount)
  • 4x M3-30mm bolts + 4x M3 wingnuts
  • 2x M3-16mm bolts (for the mount plate.)

The v2 mount uses 2x 5mm diameter carbon fiber rods for extra strength. I used these 200mm ones. The vertical one needs to be cut down to 150mm. Use caution when cutting carbon fiber rods as the dust can be hazardous. Do your research if you're not familiar. You can always just buy one as well.

PRINT SETTINGS

Everything was printed with a standard 0.2mm layer height and 20% infill except:

  • The machine and screen mounts were printed with 15% infill.
  • The mount plate was printed with 50% infill.
SUPPORTS

I used organic supports (PrusaSlicer 2.9.1) on the screen-mount to make sure the overhangs printed nicely and to support the bridge on the end cap. It's a 30mm gap so you may be able to do it with a really well dialed machine but I didn't want to risk it. No other supports were used on anything.

FILAMENT

Printed with Elegoo Black PLA and Elegoo Clear PLA.
