A creative trap tile with an 8-bit Mario theme. After trapping the first ball, a path opens with a cool flip down ramp - giving players a 1up! This tile is a remix of @andrewtho5942's original model from Thangs.com.

Printing:

  • The orientation of the pieces has been optimized for printing, however, the ramp will need supports. I printed this in PLA with 15% infill.
  • Two 3MF files are provided, one is set-up for multi-color printers, the other is set-up with a pause (layer 71) to do a color change.

Assembly:

  • Use an M3 screw and nut for the joint. Do not overtighten the screw - keep it loose enough so the ramp can easily flip down.
  • A 3mm diameter peg could be used in place of the screw, but the joint will be more fragile.

What is Hextraction?

Hextraction is a free board game designed for 3D printing. You download the files, make it yourself, and even mod the game pieces.

Your goal: Get a ball to the finish line, one hexagonal tile at a time. It's a bit Magic: The Gathering and Calvinball mud-wrestling in a marble maze.

The kicker: As long as something fits the slot and makes everyone happy, you can play it. You can add traps, build in mechanisms, and even write your own rules. You can even mess around with the game board itself.

It's free to play, and you can play with as many opponents as you want - or none at all. Fire up that printer and get downloading!
