Printing and assembly. This is a two part assembly that is designed to press fit. Depending on your printer, the fit may vary, you may want to use a small drop of glue if it is not tight. I found a 150 pack of small safety pins at Dollarama for $1.25. Dollarama is a Canadian dollar store that is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The safety pins are a product of China.
