I think the flap hooks are better this way. It can be riveted for a permanent installation.
STLs for Bluemels 42 and 65 are provided. The OpenSCAD source file is provided too, so that the model can easily be adjusted to any approximately round fender. Pictures show how to measure the three key parameters. Flap length is adjusted with “flap_l”.
Everything prints without support in the orientation shown, the clip in PLA or PETG, the flap in TPU. PETG is supposed to have a better UV resistance but PLA will give you plenty of service life too. The band is there to test the fit without printing the complete flap.
Tips for installing:
- check the clip fits the fender
- put the flap on the clip off the bike
- slide them on the fender (like a sock). Since there are no tolerances, it must be slid perfectly straight. You'll get it after a few attempts.
For riveting:
- drill the hole with the mudflap mounted on the fender, beware of the tire!
