The Piezo sensors under the bed are covered with an insulating foam. This will allow heat to escape.

Some folks feel that the piezoelectric sensors that help with initiating bed leveling in the four corners may be heat sensitive. I noticed that the original bed level sensors are protected by a thin insulating foam tap. so I designed this model so that the foam tape is removed and a printed cover that allows the piezo sensor to breathe is in its place.

To install I recommend keeping a small piece of foam on the actual sensor itself… i'm not sure if this matters, but it's how bambu has their sensors so i figured “why not?”

  • You will need to remove the bed leveling nut and the three screws holding in the piezo sensor,
    • the spring will fall, so don't lose it,
  • the spring goes back in first, then the piezo sensor,
  • the wires for the sensor need to be routed around the screw holes through a cutout at the bottom of the model.
  • If you find that the glue that is holding the two metal plates as loosened and is coming off I recommend using comstar metal lock

For additional protection on the piezo's you can also unscrew all the pcbs that they route to, place in a nylon washer as a standoff and reinstall with m3 nylon screws. I happened to use these, and used the nylon nut as a standoff the actually standoff is too tall, so don't use those. This keeps the PCB's from touching any metal.

Anyways, I don't think this is the issue with the Qidi bed leveling at high bed and chamber temps, I believe it is the PCB that the induction sensor plugs into, I believe the high temperatures are causing issues with that PCB, others think it's the induction sensor itself. but I definitely don't think the issue is with the piezo sensors.
