I've always wanted a real sized pokeball I could hold in my hand. And now I have one!
This is a life sized Pokeball I designed. It's a 1:1 scale as shown in the shows.

Regardless of what the slicer says, every single part can be printed without supports. The inner piece will be a little stringy if you do print without supports, but you won't see it once everything is assembled. There is some gluing required. I used crazy glue.

Instructions:

  1. Print at a fine resolution. For the top of each half, use variable layer height in the slicer. Let the printer do the work so you have a nice end result with minimal cleanup.
  2. Once each half is printed, I used a deburring tool to clean up each half near where the button goes.
  3. Sand the inside of each half and sand only the hidden parts of the inner insert. When you glue it all together, none of the sanding should be visible. Put the pieces together before gluing and you'll see exactly where you should stop sanding. Be careful to glue one side at a time. If you try to do both at once, it might drip and ruin the ball.
  4. Enjoy being a Pokemon Master!

I included step files because STL files are too triangulated and they don't print round surfaces as smooth.

As I mentioned above, I recommend using the Variable Layer Height and make the tops of each side as detailed as you can. You won't see any staircasing. Infill doesn't matter, and I suggest keeping it at 2 perimeters for each half. For the inner insert, you can use however many perimeters you want, But I recommend 2-3 so it doesn't get super heavy.

The end result is really nice to hold and it's one of my favorite things I designed.

Disclaimer: DO NOT THROW AT ANYONE OR ANY OBJECT. IT WILL NOT CATCH ANYTHING.
