This is a replacement part for the Nanoleaf Linker - the small connector which joins Nanoleaf panels.
I lost a couple of my linkers so I modelled this to use as a replacement. This is the end result after a LOT of iterations to get the spacing correct.
It works great as a simple connector to join the panels together - without electrically connecting them (one of the other panel edges should be electrically connected in this case).
However it is also designed to add wires to connect electrically.
I used solid core ‘bell wire’ with a 0.6mm diameter (not sure what gauge). I simply stripped the ends of the wire and put the stripped ends through the holes at end end, then folded the ends of the wires back towards the centre of the model - I used super glue to secure the ends of the wires in place.
The trick to making the connections work well is to add some ‘padding’ to the connector. The official connector has springy connections but we can give ourselves some flexibility by placing some double sided foam tape, or something similar on the connector and placing the wires on top - see photos for examples.
The wiring for the linker is simple (recommend using a multimeter to verify connectivity):
- The centre pads connect to the next panel's centre pad.
- The pads on each side connect to the pad on the opposing side, so when wiring these the wires should cross over and go to the opposite edge of the connector.
Print flat on the print bed. And would suggest using a slow print speed to ensure quality is good.
I printed with a 0.6mm nozzle and it worked great so it should also be fine with the 0.4mm nozzle which most printers ship with.
