DM request led me to deisgn these additional and substitute parts to expand the frame by 50mm. Modifications as follows:
Incorporation of the Upper Bridge for strength and the Lower Bridge to include central mount for the Supporting Rollers which are shortened for ease of printing.
The Upper Roller just lengthened to fit.
Lower Roller was already split but now split roughly 1:2. This is to support the now two off the shelf door handle spindles that form the central axis and solid turning force. If you can get an 8mm bar of the full length required then use that, but as this was originally designed with minimal off the shelf additional parts, it stays true to that ethos.
Finally there are the Upper and Lower Bridge Pins which connect and support the bridges to the Side Frames.
Sorry, not finally… There is also a Wide Platten to fit the new dimensions.
The attached exploded view has all the new or substitute parts highlighted in yellow. Everything else comes from my original Portable Printing Press design.
Assembly Notes: As before, start by making up the mechanisms, assemble them into the Side Structures at the same time as the Thumb Wheels. It does go together neatly if you do it right… Then build up the Top Roller into one Side Structure before encapsulating by pushing the sides together. Just take it slow and align as you go. The full assemby holds it all together. The Bottom Roller and the Supporting Rollers can be added afterwards as it's designed to be removable in the event that the gears need replacing.
The only non printed parts required are 2x M6x70mm Bolts and Nuts. 1x 120x8mm Door Handle Spindle, 1x 80x8mm Door Handle Spindle.
It's designed to fundamentally be push fit, but holes are there to screw to a surface/plank which will both fix it down and keep it together. You could always add a little glue! The choice is yours.
Note: If printed/orientated as intended, the only part that requires any support structures is the Upper Bridge which should be printed with the voids vertical. It's fairly obvious, but I thought I'd state it anyway.
And finally, appologies for forgetting to upload the revised Wide Platten. Now available!
