A simple and minimal filament spool winder that is fairly quick to print and easy to store.
I liked all the fancy spool winders on Printables but I didn't want to spend so much time and effort on something I would use infrequently, so I designed this.
It is manually powered and requires minimal hardware. The only part that requires support is the main body, which is printed on it's side. The main part is clamped to your workbench or table with shop clamps.
Hardware - I bought the 5/16" bolts and nuts from Home Depot
- 2x 4.5" - 5" 5/16" hex head screws
- 4x 5/16" hex nuts
- 4x 608 skateboard bearings
- 1x M3x30mm screw - for the handle
- 1x M3 nut - for the handle
- 1x M3 washer - for the handle
You can print this out of any material (I used PETG) but I recommend minimum 4 walls and 25% - 40% infill; I used 10% infill for the spool cones. Print the pads out of TPU so it grips your bench/table. The TPU pad will slide onto the main body and stay in place without the need for adhesive. A bit of oil between the handle and the handle washer may help it to turn smoothly.
I also included a 5/16" hex sizing jig to help you verify fitment - I designed the hex cut-outs to fit 14.8mm point-to-point hex nuts (7.4 on the jig).
