Smart House for ESPHome sensors

Beautifully wraps ESPHome weather station sensors. Solid plug-in system without need of glue or screws. For ESP32 with carbon dioxide, temperature, humidity and barometric sensors.
Example application:ESPHome + HomeAssistant.

Print

  • Layer height 0.1mm, max 0.2mm
  • Nozzle width 0.4mm
  • Wall count 2, max 3
  • Top layer 2, max 3
  • Bottom layer 2, max 3
  • Infill 10% Gyroid; Align walls and roof so that the Gyroid pattern starts horizontally, it gives a nice touch.
  • Socket: 4 top layer, infill 15% Adaptive Cubic

Assembly

The parts are press-fit. Use 1.75mm filament as dowel rather than glue or screws. Although not strictly required, the assembly will benefit from an accurate printout. Before starting with house building, make sure the electrics is finished and tested.

Gently deburr the

  1. front and rear walls' top edges that fit into the roof,
  2. the door and all window cutous as well all walls'
  3. lower corners that fit into the socket.
If the lower wall corners are not deburred, the perimeter will be too large to fit into the socket.

Manually push a 1.5mm drill or wire through each dovel hole before assembly (drilling machine is not mandatory).

Start with

  1. assembling the walls first (use filament as dowel),
  2. insert USB-C cable into the rear wall and press walls into the socket. Pay attention to all inner corners before pushing too hard; Gently help walls with a flat tool if they do not slide into the gap (corners). If its very hard to push the walls into the socket, something went wrong, but its okay if the walls tend to bend to the inner side.
  3. Insert floor, then PPM sensor,
  4. insert CO2 sensor (lock sensor with filament), and
  5. insert AC containing the temp/humidity/barometric sensor PCB (use filament to lock in place).
  6. Assemble attic, pillar (optional), micro controller and heat-shield, and insert attic.
  7. Connect all wires before the next step.
  8. Assemble roof and insert chimney.
  9. Door and window frames can be inserted now or last of all. Glass panes are a matter of taste, hence optional.
  10. Finally click the roof onto the house. This works only gradually and might required some fiddling around. Take care all walls fit into the notch.

Printed Parts

This project consists of parts which are available in different versions. It would be impractical to export all of them. That's why just a minimal set is exported to .3mf. Please use FreeCAD with the project file to export parts as desired.

Sensors + µC

  • Particle sensor: PMS5003
  • Air pressure/temp/humidity: AHT20 + BMP280 PCB
  • CO2: Senseair S8 4BP
  • µC: ESP32 dev board

Although the temperature sensor is displaced, the micro controller might bias the air temperature measurement by +0.7°C. Leaving out the glass panes will slightly mitigate this issue.
