I have been feeling nostalgic for my time in Japan, missing my nightly runs to Family Mart and 7Eleven. To counteract the crippling sadness I feel for leaving such a beautiful country, I decided to make this press to recreate one of the delicious treats I miss so much.

This press can be used to make perfect Spam Musubi just like at the Japanese kombini stores.

First add in a little sushi rice to the ring form. Then apply a little pressure compacting the rice into the form. I like to add a small sprinkle of “Nori Komi Furikake” Rice Seasoning on top after I press it down. Then I give it one more small press to seal in the seasoning before removing the rice from the mold.

Add a little dash of “Bachans” Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce over the rice.

Some people prefer a layer of cooked egg added in, just use the aluminum can the Spam came in to cut out the omelet into the correct shape. (i usually don't add egg to mine)

Then place a slice of pan fried Spam right over top of the rice before wrapping it up tight with a ribbon of Nori.

I like to use “Ariake” Onigiri Seaweed wraps as they are the perfect size for my taste, but you can always cut down larger sheets of Nori to your own preference.

Finally i wrap them up in plastic wrap and place them in the fridge for a quick snack on the go.

“Delicious!” Hope you enjoy!
