Hose Nozzle Project
This project features a variety of nozzle designs that I made and tested using a standard garden hose.
Most were created purely for fun or out of scientific curiosity.
Some nozzles are engineered for high-flow, focused streams; others produce fine mist or use the Venturi principle to enable suction-based functionality. Several include a 6/8 mm (ID/OD) barbed adapter for drawing in additives like fertilizer.
As always, feel free to reach out with suggestions, feedback, or feature requests—I’d love to hear your ideas and collaborate on this project!
Nozzle Descriptions
- 22pitch-Xvane-Nozzle
A high-speed jet nozzle featuring an X-shaped swirl vane and a rotation chamber. It produces a wide, high-velocity water mist, ideal for light cleaning or cooling applications.
Status: ok - 10pitch-Xvane-Nozzle
Similar to the 22pitch-Xvane, but with a larger outlet diameter to reduce flow velocity. The lower pitch increases water spin for a stronger rotational effect.
Status: This nozzle clogged during testing due to narrow vane openings. - Venturi_Inline_Nozzle
Designed for inline, stationary use. Connect this nozzle to your water hose, insert a 6 mm inner-diameter suction tube into a container (e.g., a fertilizer bottle), and attach another hose to the outlet (marked with an arrow).
Note: Keep the outlet hose short—excessive backpressure may cancel the Venturi effect and cause backflow into the additive container.
Status: Untested. - Venturi_Nozzle
A compact Venturi nozzle with a 6 mm OD barbed suction port. Connect a 6/8 mm (ID/OD) tube leading to a fertilizer container.
Tip: Keep the suction line short; long tubing may cause too much pressure loss.
Status: Stopped working during testing—cause unknown. - AtomizerNozzleAttempt
Combines Venturi-induced suction with an X-vane swirl generator to produce a fine, gas-mixed water spray.
Status: This nozzle is notably loud during operation. - HighFlow Nozzle Xvane
A high-flow nozzle that produces a focused beam, utilizing an X-vane swirl generator to impart rotational motion to the stream.
Status: Untested. - HighFlow Nozzle with Flow Director / Perlator
High-flow nozzle with a focused stream, featuring an internal perlator to stabilize and shape the flow.
Status: Untested. - Mist Nozzle with Flow Director / Perlator
Similar to the 22pitch-Xvane Nozzle, but replaces the cross vanes with a flow director for a finer, more controlled mist.
Status: Untested.
Project Status
Work in progress!
I’m continuously updating and improving these nozzle designs as I test and refine them. Some models may not have been printed yet—so you might be the first to try them!

Assembly Notes
For ABS Users:
Use ABS glue (filament dissolved in acetone) for bonding. Apply generously to contact surfaces and twist parts a quarter turn during assembly to ensure even spread and a leak-proof seal.
For PLA Users:
Cyanoacrylate (super glue) works well. Ensure full coverage of the conical adapter surfaces to achieve a strong, watertight bond.
