On the Prusa Core One you can turn off the chamber lights and the status bar but you cannot tun off the LCD display backlight. This modification changes this by using a simple switch.
The modification requires you to solder on the display PCB so be cautious.
I made pictures of everything but here is what you have to do:
- Disassemble the xLCD case
- Find the resistor R8 which is connected to PIN 2 of the ribbon cable
- Desolder R8
- Resolder it so that it is only connected to PIN 2 and the 2nd connection of the resistor is not connected to anything. I simply moved it a bit to the side as you can see on the photos.
- Connect the now free connection of the resistor to the switch.
- Connect the other end of the switch to GND (I connected it to the pad where the resistor was on before).
Be aware that the touch is still active even though the backlight is off!
