Mount for 8mm COB LED strips, originally intended for my Centauri Carbon, but could find uses elsewhere.

I originally looked at the following model:
https://www.printables.com/model/744002-8mm-led-strip-holder

It looked like what I wanted, except it had holes. I tried to remix the print in Fusion and other packages, and found it was so full of polygons that it was impossible for a CAD n00b like myself.

So instead of fighting with “normal” CAD software, I fired up OpenSCAD, and with a ruler and a couple of minutes, I made my own model based on the rough dimensions.

So thank you James for the inspiration, but this isn't a remix, maybe “homage” would be the best description :'D

There are 5 models:
One with no recess in the end for the solder pads on the end of the LED strip, and two versions with the recess cut out, one on the left, and one on the right.

The fourth part is a short test piece to check fit of your LED strips.

The fifth piece can hold strips aligned end to end if you wish to glue them together. It's a tight fit, it has to be. Just be careful not to use too much glue or it'll become a permanent fixture!

The strips are 150mm long, which lines up with the usual 25mm cutting places on COB strips (at least the ones I have), and for a Centauri Carbon you will want two length for 300mm on each side.

You can print with them standing on end (if it's a model with cutout, position this at the top and you will need no supports).
I preferred to lay them down (too much history with bed slingers!). Supports are needed for this, but I've found that standard tree supports work great and come off cleanly (see pictures).

It is a snug fit by design, the sticky backing will probably not be needed (if you are lucky you might even be able to peel this off the COB strip and use it to attach the 3D printed mounts to the printer, or kitchen cabinets, or whatever!).

As always with tight fits, your success will vary depending on your printer and filament, so I'd suggest printing the short test fit piece first to get flow and any scaling tweaks you may need.

OpenSCAD file included. Only dependency is the “Round-anything” library, which everyone should have as far as I'm concerned! If you want a different length of the strip, it's set the “length” variable, that's how I made the test piece.
