I created some gcode to add to your Ender 3 v2 to make him wipe his nozzle before printing.

Improve Your Ender 3 V2 Prints: Add Nozzle Wiping!

Have you ever noticed how Bambu Lab printers wipe their nozzles before printing, leading to cleaner results? I did, and I figured out a way to bring that improvement to my Ender 3 V2. Here's how you can do it too!

Why Add Nozzle Wiping?

I found that implementing a nozzle wipe routine significantly improved a cleaner initial extrusion.

What You'll Need & How to Install

I used the nozzle wipe part from the Bambu Lab A1. It's compact and designed to withstand the heat from the nozzle.

I recommend placing the wiping block in the back right corner of your printer. This spot keeps it out of the way. I initially considered the back left, but found it interfered with the printer's cables.

If you decide to place your wiping block elsewhere, you can generate custom G-code using this handy tool I made: loek.oerlemans.tv/gcode_wipe/

How to Implement the G-code (Prusa Slicer)

I've created G-code specifically for Prusa Slicer. While it might work with other slicers, I haven't tested it.

You might even be able to use the custom G-code tool to adapt this for other printers! I haven't been able to test this myself, so if you try it and it works, please let me know!

If you first want to test if it wipes in the good place, you can download test.gcode to test the G-code.

If you've already customized your start G-code: Simply add the code from added.gcode to your existing start G-code.

If you've never customized your start G-code:

  1. Copy the G-code provided below.
  2. Open Prusa Slicer.
  3. Navigate to Printer Settings → Custom G-code.
  4. Delete all existing G-code in the "Start G-code" text box.
  5. Paste the copied G-code into the text box.
  6. Slice an object and activate the "Movement" preview to confirm your nozzle moves to the wiping block as expected.

That's it! Your Ender 3 V2 will now wipe its nozzle before every print, leading to cleaner, more consistent results.
