This is a Display Case for the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2.
This is an update to my older basic (and rushed) Pi Touch Display 2 model. It can either be used standalone, or combined with the supplied mounting plate for easily clipping onto a Qidi Plus 4 printer by using the original screen mounting holes.
This version provides for tapered walls at 11.3° which matches the bevel taper on the Qidi Plus 4, but would also serve as a decent display angle when placed upon a table.
It is sized to support protecting the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 screen with a Raspberry Pi attached to the rear of the screen. The side vent holes are also sized to pass through most connectors to plug into the Pi.
I use the case with the Plus 4 mounting model as a replacement display that runs Klipperscreen for my Qidi Plus 4 printer.
The tapered walls make for a model that prints more easily and it less prone to visible surface wall variations that are caused by layer time changes when the case is printed. The tapered walls also allows for more airflow around the case.
Printing
Due to some of the very tight clearances around the edge of the screen I highly recommend calibrating your filament's Shrinkage XY values using my basic calibration cross model.
The main case model is designed to be printed flat side down. I recommend using a height range modifier to set infill percentages to 100% and using 3mm thick of bottom layers, with 0 top layers. The means that the printer won't waste time treating the large flat hidden inner surface as a top layer, and this also helps to keep the outer wall surfaces looking cleaner.
VERY IMPORTANT: The mounting place for the Plus 4 is designed to be printed in this orientation. This allows for the mounting tabs to be stronger otherwise they will have a tendency to snap off under heavy use.
The Display case can be printed in whatever filament you want. If printing the Plus 4 mounting plate, be sure to use a filament that will tolerate temperatures up to 80C before going soft.
