Just a quick design, for a BambuLab A1 Mini LED Light Bar Mod. Other mods mount the strip in the front or directly on the vertical rail, but I wanted to mount the LEDstrip on the back of the vertical rail with a slight forward angle.
The Angle is adjustable in FreeCAD.
Printing
use the .3mf Luke, it already has all the presets.
Otherwise, try these:
- Material: PLA or PETG, depends on how hot your strip gets
- Nozzlesize: 0.4mm or 0.6mm work fine
- Infill: almost not needed. 10% aligned rectangular or 15% Lightning
- Perimeters: 2 on 0.6mm nozzle is enough, 3 on 0.4mm nozzle is good.
- LayerHeight: can easily do 0.30mm when printed standing up, otherwise go for 0.25mm
- Supports: None if you can print it standing up.
- Supports when lying down: you need paint-on supports. Those are provided in the
Long-PrusaMK4S*.3mf, but I did not have good luck with those. The part still worked though.
- Supports when lying down: you need paint-on supports. Those are provided in the
Long Variant:
This is one piece and fits the entire length of the A1mini rail backside (minus the screws).
- print diagonally on a standard-size printer like a PrusaMK4S
Shorter Variant (recommended):
These are shorter variants that fit on smaller printbeds, like the Mini. They have a press-fit connector, so you can align and connect them into one long part.
- print those standing up
- this will give the best result
Usage
- print 5x Short parts OR print 2x Half-Length parts OR print 1x FullLength Part
- connect the parts by pressing them into each other (unless you printed FullLength)
- slide in LED strip with cables already connected
- mount to the backside of the A1mini vertical rail using double-sided nano-tape
- connect to power
Custom Lengths
- no problem, drop me a message :-)
- or adjust the FreeCAD model and message me your parameters so I can add them to the project
LED strip
I used a COB 24V strip I had lying around with a H801 WLED controller and connected it to the A1 AMS interface.
I also made a variant for a WS2812 led-strip with smaller guards holding the strip.
BambuLAB AMS Connector
- Molex Microfit 3.0 43025-0400
- Pin 3 (lower left) is GND
- Pin 4 (lower right) is 24V
commercial solution
There are several version on e.g. AliExpress, just look for "A1mini Light"
