Enclosure/mount for IKEA Stoftmoln (37cm)

I recently bought two Ikea stoftmoln (37cm variant) light fixtures for our dining room. 

These light fixtures are meant to be used/placed over a ceiling power outlet, something which we don't have in our house. They also look kind of .. boring out of the box in my opinion.

To get around this, I designed this cover/mount which supports routing a cable from the side into the light fixture. Since this light is rather large, it could not fit in one piece on a standard print bed. I therefore split the enclosure into 5 parts joined by dovetails and printed clips.

The five parts has variants for one or two cables going into the light fixture, but also support for routing a cable ‘through’ the enclosure to connect several in parallel - so it should be quite flexible for different use-cases. It's also possible to print without any side openings if one has a ceiling outlet.

Recommended to print with an infill of 10%, with ‘structural’ mode for best quality. Minor imperfections are quite visible when joining parts together, so I would recommend not to print with speedy options. Also make sure to have really good bed adhesion, since if a part warps it will not look good when joined with the others. You will need to print 5 clips.

Why is there a cutout at the dovetail joints? This is because a dovetail with a slope had a high chance of causing imperfections in the print.
