Romex Spool Adapter

Spool adapter for non-metallic sheathed cable, such as Romex brand cable for residential wiring. 

Romex and other brands of non-metallic sheathed cable are coreless packs of wire with a standardized external diameter for ease of palletizing and shipping. However, based on the wire gauge, number of conductors in the cable, and length of wire in the pack, the internal diameter can change. Residential and commercial electrical contractors use a Lazy Susan style device to accommodate this and metallic sheathed cable. They are expensive, bulky, and not something the casual electrician or enterprising homeowner wanting to add a couple new circuits can justify buying. 

For the above reasons of internal diameter, its not really feasible to build a spool for every possible combination, so I developed the concept of an insert which can be sized and printed for any need, and the spool itself is a standard size

The spool files are ready to slice. The insert is offered as a F360 parametric file that you can customize the outer diameter before sending to your slicer. If you need a specific size I can export that and upload here as a 3mf, step, or stl.

You will need a large bed printer such as the Prusa XL that can accommodate 355x355mm for the spool. 

You will want to use ABS, ASA, possibly PETG with heavy walls (5 or 6) and dense infill to ensure a sturdy part
