The Modulus is a fully 3D-printed modular pickle fork slingshot designed for strength, customization, and convenience. Built from carbon fiber PETG, this design balances durability with flexibility while keeping print time and filament usage efficient.
Features
Modular Design: Two small screw holes on the fork allow for clip attachments, while a larger screw cap at the base seals an internal storage cavity.
BB Storage: Holds around 10× 4.5 mm BBs (0.177 cal) inside the handle for quick reloads.
Tool-Free Assembly: All screws are designed to thread directly into the print — no inserts required. Use a coin to tighten them.
Custom Band Setup: Optimized for 4 mm tube bands (with steel BB inserts for security), but can be adapted for other band types.
Print Recommendations
Layer Height: 0.2 mm
Infill:
- Handle: ~15% gyroid for a lighter grip.
- Forks: 70–90% for maximum strength.
- (Tip: Add a modifier to the object in your slicer to assign higher infill to the forks only. Printing the entire part at high infill is also feasible, but it will make the slingshot heavier and less practical.)
Supports: Only needed for the clip.
Brim: Recommended for the small screws to ensure adhesion.
Material: Use a filament that resists shattering.
- PETG-CF: Highly recommended — carbon fiber reinforcement prevents cracking and adds durability.
- Tough PLA / PLA+: Strong and more likely to dent than shatter.
- ASA / ABS: Good impact resistance and weather resistance for outdoor use.
- Standard PETG: Works, but may crack or shatter under extreme stress compared to the above options.
Assembly & Use
Print the slingshot body, screws, and optional clip.
Press-fit or screw in the bands using the fork channels.
Secure your pouch — leather or synthetic works well.
Load BBs into the base compartment and close with the screw cap.
Tighten screws with a coin — no special tools needed.
Safety Disclaimer
This is a functional slingshot. Always wear eye protection, use safe backstops, and never aim at people, pets, or property. The designer is not responsible for misuse.
