For those of you who are annoyed by having to mount your bike light of to the side or simply can’t because your handlebars taper of leaving no space. This solution has been around on the consumer market for a while, but I noticed it could be adapted to 3D printing and make it look smooth.
This handlebar extension is made to fit to handlebars with a diameter of 31,8 mm, which is common on mountain-, touring- and most city bikes. The extended part also has the 31,8 mm diameter. If you wish for another diameter or extension length, you can use the Fusion file below to modify it.
Additional hardware required:
- 6x 5,5x5,5mm Square M3 nuts
- 4x Countersunk M3x16 screws (14-20mm is possible)
- 2x Countersunk M3x20 screws (20-30mm is possible)
Printing:
- Place the side of the spacer that has a small indent, on the bed. This is due to the design using bridging geometry for the holes.
- 3 perimeter and 20% gyroid infill is recommended.
- PLA works well for this purpose, tough PETG, ASA or PC are great options.
See 3mf file for reference.
