I wanted a container for the Nickle strip which wouldn't damage it when it gets low. With the strip attached to a central location for winding it can cause the strip to deform since it's much further away from the exit of the container. Adding a spiral keeps the end of the strip near the edge of the spool instead of the very center of the spool. The top should have a snug friction fit to the base.

I've created the knob with a right hand twist as well as a left hand twist.
There is also a conventional knob without the spiral.
There are three versions of the lid for better fit, the default has a 0.15mm gap between the walls of the hole and the post. The other tops have a post of size  -+0.05 mm.

A little bit of UV or CA glue can also be used to secure the cover to the base.

I found that the easiest way to install the nickel strip is by taping the end to the spiral and then winding it on a flat surface until the spool is small enough to fit into the base.

Insert the spool into the base and place the cover on. Top top can be rotated 180 degree for the arrows to point in the desired direction.
