For what exactly?
ifixit Essential Electronics Toolkit and similar sized kits
Why?
I the search for ever more space on my way to small desk I decided to store my trusty ifixit toolkit beneath the shelving board. Even tough there were already some models, like the L Brackets from Beansmoke, I did not like the mounting UX, as you have to use ideally 8 screws and your ability to space out the four individual brackets with perfect tolerance is for me a frustrating process.
This is why I designed two part bracket, requiring four screws.
If you need something more simplistic and less filament hungry, check out Beansmokes model.
Inserting of the toolkit is kind of a press fit, as four nubs enhance the friction to keep kit in place. The spring in the end stop will softly stop it. The idea is, that when pressed in against the spring pressure and then released quickly, the toolkit will jump out some centimeters to ease removal of the kit. (not yet working 100%)
Mounting
Requirements
- 4 screws, ideally with a cone
- screwdriver
- 1 or 2 brackets printed
Process
- Slot brackets over toolkit
- chamfer in the direction of inserting
- position toolkit at desired position
- screw it
How to Print
- works with PLA and better
- 0.4 Nozzle or smaller
- place the non chamfer side on the bed, looking from above it should look like a C
- 2 walls or more
- End-Bracket
- when to finicky, dont print it at all, instead print the front one 2 times (maybe use a screw in the pathway of the slot to hinder over inserting)
- I split it for better printing with the Bambulab dovetail feature into 2 parts, I will include the Bambulab project file with the split already done for you
