Replacement Drain Plug for Kitfort KT-960 Garment Steamer (4-Part Assembly)
The Problem:
The original drain plug on the water tank of the Kitfort KT-960 steamer is prone to breaking. This small plastic part is crucial for filling and draining the device. Once broken, the steamer cannot hold water and becomes unusable.
The Solution:
This is a 3D-printed replacement drain plug I designed in SolidWorks after my original one failed. It is a direct copy of the broken part. The model is split into 4 components for optimal printing without supports. The parts are then chemically welded with acetone to create a single, strong, and leak-proof unit. I have successfully used this repair on my own Kitfort KT-960 steamer.
Compatibility:
Primary Model: Designed specifically for the Kitfort KT-960 garment steamer.
Check Compatibility: Please verify the design against your broken part before printing.
Printing & Assembly Instructions (Critical!):
Material: ABS is required. This is necessary for the chemical welding process with acetone and for heat resistance.
Layer Height: 0.1mm for a precise fit and smooth sealing surfaces.
Infill: 50-80% for maximum strength.
Supports: Not required. The components are oriented for easy printing.
Post-Processing:
Print all 4 components.
Assemble the parts dry to ensure a correct fit.
Use a small brush to apply acetone to the joining surfaces.
Press the parts together firmly and hold until the acetone begins to set.
Allow the assembled plug to cure fully for several hours until the acetone completely evaporates and the bond becomes strong.
Safety: Perform acetone welding in a well-ventilated area away from open flames.
Installation:
Once the acetone weld is fully cured, insert the new plug into the drain hole on the water tank. Press firmly until it snaps into place. Perform a leak test with a small amount of water before regular use.
