The Non-Loosable Cable Tie (with Velcro)
I’ve been on a bit of a mission lately—trying to find the perfect reusable cable tie for those frequently used cables that need tidy storage between uses. After experimenting with a few ideas, I came up with a super simple solution using Velcro. It’s minimal, effective, and best of all: it’s non-loosable. Once it’s on, it stays on. And yes—it works lovely.
What You’ll Need
You will need to buy Velcro for this design. I picked up some inexpensive rolls on AliExpress—either 3m or 5m lengths, 1cm wide, and about 0.85mm thick. They’re perfect for the job and easy to cut to size.
The Design
The tie consists of two 3D-printed parts and uses a snap-fit construction. It’s designed to grip the Velcro securely while staying attached to the cable, so you won’t lose it when the cable is in use.
Printing Specs
• Material: PLA+ (it seems the toughness of PLA+ is required over the more brittle standard PLA)
• Infill: 100%
• Layer Height: 0.15mm (structural)
Final Thoughts
It’s a small thing, but it’s made my cable management so much smoother. If you’re into practical, reusable solutions, I think you’ll enjoy this one too.
