Tired of the plastic body of my LP sockets cracking. Usually breaks at the insulated-prong-side nut- probably my fault for over-tightening. Good thing I can print a new one!
Added a bit of thickness all around (compared to the original), but functionally the same. Mass of the original socket (with all parts) is ~18.3g, while my 100% infill PETG socket (with all parts) is 20.5g. Let me know if you have any issues or success!
Instructions
There are 2 parts to print:
- housingLPS.stl
- insulatorLPS.stl
The housing is a bit difficult to print, but I chamfered one edge and placed that face on the print bed. Then enable organic print supports from bed only. I used 100% infill and 0.1mm layer height.
Assembly (assemble just like the original):
- Insert metal bracket into housing
- Push insulator into indented hole
- Insert the two nuts into respective cavities (smaller nut goes on insulator side)
- Fasten bolts (thinner bolt and washer go on insulator side)
Then put it put it back on your foil!
