27/09/2025: Had some clearance issues with the DXC extruder, so I made some slight tweaks and reuploaded the riser, the previous one is fine if you run the stock extruder.

26/09/2025: New and improved version of my K1/K1C Lid riser, I just installed the Phaetus DXC extruder so I though I would create a new lid riser with an extra 5mm of height, but as usual, I got totally consumed by it and went all out.

Below is the relevant changes:

  • Reduced the part count, only 4 bits now instead of 8
  • Increased the strength
  • Repositioned the PTFE filament feed tube
  • Repositioned the drag chain mounting point
  • Created a cavity for the drag chain on the lefthand side
  • Added threaded inserts
  • Increased the height by 5mm
  • Increased the thickness by 2mm
  • Eliminated the overhang at the joins

You can print this from what ever like, but I recommend PETG-GF as a minimum, I printed mine from PC-CF as I want high heat resistance and durability, also looks really nice :)

You will need 2 x threaded inserts, I recommend these: M3x3.5x4.6x6

Some VA Adhesive (Super/Crazy Glue) to glue the 4 bits together, make sure you have calibrated your flow rate, all parts fit perfectly, if in doubt, just reduce your flow rate by a couple of percent and the parts will easily fit together.

You can in install the threaded inserts by just pulling them into place with an M3 bolt:

Then just glue the segments together with some VA glue, a few drops on the tung and groove, slot together, and Roberts ya Fathers brother:

You can now remove the drag chain mount completely and bolt it directly to the riser, the PTFE feed tube now comes in through the right hand side,

Then you can insert you filament feed tube through the side hole, I will upload my drag chain filament feed tube guides soon if you want to use those as well.
