This is a ramp for launching a marble horizontally off a counter. It is intended for a lesson that uses conservation of energy and projectile motion. It includes height markings and "backstops" to give the marble a pre-determined starting height.

Notes:
Chose the ramp size:
There are a couple different size ramps for different diameter marbles. The files are labeled with a number such as 1.275 or 1.575. The ramp can accept a marble or ball bearing up to that maximum diameter (in centimeters). The marble should not touch the side walls, only the bottom of the curved channel.
Print:
Printing the ramp laying flat on its side makes the layer lines run with the ramp, creating a smoother rolling surface. It is a large object, so I find a brim is needed to prevent curling. Lay the ramp so that the marked side is up and the unmarked side is down. Lay the support stand so that the pocket is up. The recessed pocket on the support stand is a holder for spare gates.
If you increase the horizontal distance between the supports and the surface to something like 0.75 it should keep the curved surface of the channel clean.
Use:
The horizontal lines are labeled with the physical height relative to the release point. All measurements go off of the bottom of the recessed line. All measurements are to the lowest point on the marble (not the center or the point of contact). There are also numbers next to the notches that hold the backstop. Put the backstop in the notch and put the marble on the down-hill side of the backstop (not above it). Hold the marble against the backstop and the bottom of the marble will automatically be at the height indicated (assuming the diameter of the marble is close to the size indicated for that ramp). The numbers on the ramp notches are located higher than the numbers on the recessed lines because the lines are the physical height above zero and the ramp notches are where to put the backstop+marble to achieve that desired initial height.
Change Log:
8/8/2019 - Corrected an error in the backstop notch spacing. If you downloaded the file before this date, you should redownload it.
8/6/2019 - Tweaked the gate holder pocket.
