ASSEMBLY MATERIALS NEEDED
10x M2 x 8 mm screws (cases)
20x M2 x 4 mm screws (plates) [included in Sofle kits]
10x M2 x 8 mm standoffs (PCBs) [included in Sofle kits]
10x M2 x 4 x 3.5 mm heat-set threaded inserts (to fasten case halves)
16x 8 mm rubber bumpons (optional)
8x 8 x 3 mm magnets (optional, for wrist rests)
CHANGES VS. ELMO’S ORIGINAL CASE
Magnetic wrist rests added
Holes for heat-set inserts (no more screws biting into plastic)
Top raised by 1 mm (looks better with Cherry profile caps)
USB openings moved; more internal space for socketed Pro Micro (not just Elite-C)
Tray-mount style to use standard Sofle kit plate (no printed plate required)
RGB LED strip channels on bottom removed (some strips may still fit under PCB)
Knob adjusted for raised case and “plum” encoder shaft
Larger reset button holes + second pair added (works with 42keebs V2.1)
Larger bumpon pads (fit 8 mm)
PLEASE NOTE
Case halves are NOT symmetrical.
Do not mirror a single file; TRRS and USB holes differ on each side.
Mount both reset switches on the BOTTOM of each PCB.
You can then press the reset through the case without disassembly.
Included knob fits Alps EC11 with 15 mm “plum” shaft.
Using another encoder may require a different knob.
3MF files are pre-oriented for best print results; supports not required.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Build the Sofle as usual, but DO NOT attach the FR4/acrylic bottom.
Instead, screw each half into “Left-Bottom” and “Right-Bottom” using M2 x 4 mm screws.
Heat-set the threaded inserts into “Left-Top” and “Right-Top”.
Slot bottoms into tops and fasten with M2 x 8 mm screws.
Install “Knob-X2” on the encoders.
Glue 8 x 3 mm magnets into the holes on:
Left-Top, Right-Top
Left-Wristrest, Right-Wristrest
