While printing high temp materials, the double side adhesive tape that “secures” the door handle tends to soften and become less (to none) effective.

There are endless manners to overcome this problem including a simple m3 bolt and nut. The main benefit of this approach is distribution of forces on a larger surface, preventing cracks on the acrylic panel.

The idea is not new but i found the other approaches either too bulky and obstructing fingers to grab the handle or just unnecessary big (too much material and too much print time).

Additional hardware needed:

  • 2x m3x8 or m3x10 countersunk head bolts
  • (optional) 2x m3 nut

There are two designs

  • door_handle.stl - the basic version. It only need a bolt that will selfthread into to piece. This is only suted for 8mm bolt. Any longer it will protrude beyond the surface risking scratching your fingers when opening the door.
  • door_handle_nut.stl - this will need an aditional m3 nut inserted after print. It can be used with both m3x8 or m3x10 bolts.

If your profiles are decent calibrated the nut will be a press fit helping in instalation part. Otherwise, you may need to scale a bit the whole object.

Print material: PLA should do the trick but was not tested with prolonged high temp printing. I recommend PETG or more heat resistant material.
