I thought it would be a fun experiment that fit into the “Fall into Knitting” contest theme to make 3D printable “yarn” that you can knit!
I used a similar process as https://www.printables.com/model/1452926 to create yarn-like models.
STL/3MF files
- Shorter sample lengths: 1mm, 2mm, and 5mm
- Longer lengths: 4000+mm: 1mm and 2mm
Print settings:
- 2 walls
- 0% infill
I printed with HS TPU95A and TPU95A. The high speed TPU is a bit more rigid but resulted in cleaner prints. YMMV – reminder to dry your TPU before printing!
Knitting tests
⚠ Disclaimer: It's been a while since I've knitted (and I wasn't that great at it).
I'm not sure if I knit correctly, but these knitted TPU swatches twist just like my knitted scarves did 😅
