The pipe can be easily cut, e.g. with a hacksaw, and then the edges can be sanded with fine sandpaper.
I used 3.5*20 mm wood screws
I recommend marking the holes precisely and pre-drilling with a 2mm drill bit. Screw in precisely and perpendicularly. Tighten gently.
A horizontal position can also be used, in this position I recommend fixing the parts with superglue.
