Print some fridge magnets

This is a really rewarding project. It is

• fun

• easy to accomplish

• uses old filament rests 

• is a great gift

Amounts

• Consider printing the letters according to the relative frequency of the letters. This is also available in other languages.  

• Use the lettercounter HTML in the attached zip-file and enter your text to count the letters. This is especially interesting if you want to make sure that all the necessary letters for certain words (for example names of all family members) are available when being spelled out in parallel. 

Two sets are available 

• for 3mm round magnets with a height of 2mm

• for 4x4mm square magnets with a height of 3.5 mm

If you do not have magnets and need to order some: go for the round ones, they are sufficiently strong.

The letters have a height of 35mm.

Printing/Assembly

• Print in provided orientation

• no supports necessary

• Testprint!

  • Print one Letter, then try to fit a magnet:

    • Too loose/tight? Use the slicer feature of x-y hole compensation. Start with a value of +/- 0.05mm and step up in 0.05mm increments until it fits.  

      

    • if it is too loose, you can also use glue, but it is a repetitive mess so I recommend you find the right value for x-y hole compensation. 

• When using filament rests, consider using the “Print by object” order. That way it will finish one letter before starting the next one. Combine this with (fast!) colorchanging filament and you will have different colors for each letter.  

• While the magnet orientation technically does not matter, you can stack the letters on top of each other when they are all in the same orientation.
