I accidentally lost a tiny ball while removing the nut from an SFU1605 ball screw — one got stuck between my tool and the thread and jumped out.
While searching for a way to reinsert it (and reading a few horror stories), I came up with this little helper tube.
How to:
The tube has a small angled cutout that lets you insert the balls easily from either side. Place the cup underneath to catch any that might escape!
I used a small flashlight, a magnetic screwdriver (see picture), and a bit of PTFE spray for lubrication. Just rotate the tube slowly — and it’s done.
⚠ Note: This tool is designed for a single bearing. Be careful not to pull the tube too far off the nut to prevent more balls from falling out.
