[NOTE: The images for this model have not been updated with the new runout sensor placement, so it won't look properly centered in the preview. I'll update them when I have good photos of the current version.]
This is a mount to replace the spool holder at the top of the Neptune 4 Max, or other 2020 extrusion frame printers. It allows you to use a drybox without altering the filament path. Includes a mount for the runout sensor to keep it centered.
To print this:
I used PETG for creep resistance. PLA will work, but will sag over time.
You will need one M3 heat set insert for the runout sensor.
You will need to use supports for the right half of the frame, where the runout sensor mounts to. Tree supports are highly recommended for this, since it doesn't have a clear path to the buildplate below it.
Print settings (for 0.4 nozzles):
* Minimum of 4 walls, preferably 6
* 5 top/bottom layers
* Hexagon / 3D hexagon / Gyroid infill
* I used PETG for final components, at 250c on the nozzle and 70c on the bed
* Tree supports enabled (manual, painted) for the right half of the frame
Assembly:
If using the dovetail pre-oriented parts:
* Slide the smaller dovetail on the front into the right half of the frame, and then press the larger dovetails in the drybox body together. They will be a pretty tight fit, so you may need to trim away some of the thin corners (I will probably adjust this in an update later).
* Melt your M3 heat set insert into the LEFT face of the tab sticking up on the right half. You can do this before putting the halves together to make it easier to access.
* Use the screws from the original spool holder to secure the drybox mount to the top frame.
Note: this is intended to be glued / welded together for full strength. If you have a 3D pen, I highly recommend using it to trace along some of the seams to weld the frame permanently together.
