Summary
Developable surfaces are geometric shapes that can be completely flattened onto a sheet of paper. This property allows for devices such as a four-bar mechanism to be incorporated into interesting configurations like this cylinder.
Printing Instructions
This model is designed for standard, 0.4mm nozzles. More specifically, the living hinges require that the wall thickness be set to near 0.4mm in order to properly print. Supports are required for the internal features to print properly, but it's sufficient to only have supports on the build plate.
You will need to orient the model with the cylinder standing up vertically.
Post-Printing
This model prints with a thin gap between layers that need to move relative to one another, but that doesn't prevent the layers from sticking to one another during printing. You will need to use a blade (preferably something thin, but not sharp) to separate the layers, inserting it in the gap between layers and sliding around to fully disconnect the upper section of the model from the lower section. This will need to be done four times, for the tops and bottoms of both of the mechanisms.
