Illuminated Decor Star (different sizes)

Made this for my wife for Christmas decoration and also as Christmas give away, it maybe is a bit overengineered, but it's sturdy, the assembly works as intended and fits perfectly and it looks really nice.

I made 3 different sizes for now (15, 20 and 25cm height) so there’s at least 1 size that's printable on every available Prusa Printer.

If you'd like to have a different size, DO NOT scale this model, it will mess up the wall thicknesses, which will influence printability and the fit and finish!

Instead just contact me and I'll adjust the model to the desired size and upload it here.

For the assembly, take care of the installation position of the insert, it's flat on one side and chamfered on the other (see the assembly picture), installing it the wrong way around will result in a poor fit and finish.

Also make sure the brim is properly removed and the edges of the insert are properly cleaned prior to installation.

Once the insert is in, make sure to push the tips of the insert all the way into the corners so the insert sits completely flush (see the assembly picture). I made an extra recess in each corner so the tips of the insert can be pushed fully in, it's friction fit and will also hold the insert in place nice and tight.

For the LED strip, you can use any available that's 8mm wide, maximum length you'll need is 1m for the 25cm version.

I only uploaded 3mf's this time, just import the 3mf file as project and everything is ready to go, only adjust your printer and filament.

I used Prusament Galaxy Black PLA for the star and Prusament Natural PLA for the insert.

Depending on the print speed you can make the insert more clear when printing slower, or get the frosted effect, like in the pictures ,when printing faster.
