This model works with any gap width and screw size. Part updates automatically in Fusion when you change your parameters!

I recently got a KALLAX 1x4 shelf, but my baseboard meant that it couldn't be flush to the wall. Since I'm setting it up vertically, I was unable to install the wall screw to keep it from falling over. This spacer allows the KALLAX to be safely secured to the wall by supporting the gap so the whole thing doesn't move.

Disclaimer: This spacer is only designed to be used with vertical KALLAX units that are standing on the floor. Do NOT use this to hang KALLAX it is only used to keep it from falling over!

What you will need:

Calipers  - to measure screw diameter

Ruler/Tape measure - to measure gap between KALLAX and the wall

Screw you are going to use - must be long enough to bridge gap and anchor to the wall!

Customizing the F3D file (notes also in parameter list):
  1. Open the file in Autodesk Fusion, then go to Solid → Modify → Change Parameters. You should see a list of parameters and measurements.
  2. Click on “Expression” cell to change specific parameters (all in mm!)
    1. ScrewSize - use your calipers to find the diameter of the screw including threads you will use to mount KALLAX to the wall. For me a #10 wood screw was 4.15mm.
    2. Tolerance - I left it at a standard 0.2mm, change if needed.
    3. HeadSize - should be OK if left at default, just make sure it can't go through the IKEA bracket on the KALLAX itself.
    4. GapWidth - use a ruler or tape measure to measure the distance between the backside of KALLAX and the wall.
  3. That's it! Export the file in your desired format!

Attaching to the wall:

Slide the spacer (doesn't matter which side), over your screw, then attach to the wall. Press the spacer against the wall, and make sure to leave a little gap between the head of the screw and the spacer. Follow the IKEA manual as instructed.
