These monolithic flexure tweezers were designed in OpenSCAD using fully parametric modeling and printed in PLA. The mechanism relies on integrated flexures that enable smooth opening and closing without hinges, screws, or mechanical joints, resulting in a simple, functional and easy-to-print design.
Two iterations of the model were developed. The first version was fully functional but showed slight misalignment between the contact surfaces during compression, reducing grip accuracy. The final version incorporates geometric adjustments at the tip region, increased local stiffness, and small reinforcement blocks that ensure a stable, parallel and precise closing motion.
The model was printed on a Creality Ender-3 V3 KE using PLA at 200 °C with a 60 °C heated bed. The final version requires support structures due to the reinforced tip geometry. This design is suitable for experimenting with flexure mechanisms, educational demonstrations of compliant systems or as a lightweight gripping tool.
