Updates
01/05/2026:
I added folders for different sizes.
I added a model for the APC BR1500G UPS. Approximate size is 114mm (wide) x 304mm (tall).
Introduction
I've been working on organizing my home office... Finally... I wanted to mount as much as I could to the bottom of my sit-stand desk so that everything moves with my desk. For part of this effort, I wanted to mount my UPS to the bottom of my desk. I had seen a couple options out there, but was concerned about the weight and longevity, so I designed my own.
My goals were:
Use the least amount of material possible while having it be strong enough to last.
Designed with PLA in mind so considering creep as part of the design.
Designed to support the UPS while securing it in place so it can be installed by a single person.
Ensure the UPS is secure and won't move easily or unintentionally.
Make it fit on a 250x250mm build plate for most machines.
This particular design was for a APC 1350VA UPS and the approximate dimensions are 265x102mm. The straps are 30mm wide and you will need two of them.
Printing Settings
This can be printed in PLA, ABS, PETG, etc. I recommend a minimum of 6 walls with a 0.4 nozzle and 4 walls with a 0.6 nozzle. Infill is less critical, but I would recommend 20% minimum considering the loads and the fact that there isn't much of it. I also recommend the largest layer height your nozzle will support. I personally printed this in PLA with a 0.6 nozzle at a 0.3 layer height. No supports are required. Those are the critical settings I think, but if you have questions, please let me know.
Parts
Whatever filament you like. Will work fine with PLA, but you may be able to use fewer walls or added confidence with other materials.
3mm rubber cord. This is to provide friction between the UPS and the strap to prevent it from moving. Considering how heavy this is, I'm not sure it's necessary, but it's a little added protection in case it gets bumped.
(Qty 8) 5mmx16 SHCS fasteners
(Qty 8) 5mm hex nuts
(Qty 8) Wood Screws. Go as long as you can without going through the desk. I used #8x1 1/4" wood screws.
Assembly
Press the hex nuts into the upper mounts.
Secure the upper parts to the bottom of the desk using 4 wood screws each.
Assemble the lower straps by placing pressing the hex nuts into their holes and pressing the 3mm cord into the vertical slots on both sides.
Place the lower strap around the bottom of the UPS and lift it into place and slide it forward or back until it engages with the upper and holds it in place temporarily. The mount will hold just fine for long enough to get the screws and install them.
Secure the straps to the upper mount by using the 5mm SHCS fasteners.
As always, I welcome any feedback on the design on how to make it better. Also, if someone needs the design modified for a different size, let me know and I should be able to make a remix and upload it relatively quickly.
Since this was part of my effort to organize my under desk area, please checkout my other models to see if they're helpful to you as well. I'd love to get feedback on those too.
